Right after harvest, Cellar Rats member PrimeZinister emailed me to say he was bored with office duty. So, he walked outside and stared at the new wastewater pond. Then he stared at a picking bin. Then he looked back at the pond. And took it in his head to go sailing.
He asked his cellar crew to help him slide a bin down into the pond. Standing up in it, he found it surprisingly stable. So he asked for a scoop shovel, which was tossed to him from the bank, and off he went to cheers and clapping from the assembled crew. The first voyage was a success!
Actually, I thought that was the end of the story, but oh no. Not a week later, he reports with glee that are BUILDING A PIRATE SHIP out of old barrels. The base is a square pontoon of watertight barrels, with a deck of separated staves. There will even be a mast. Recent reports have experienced sailor First Mate 'Rustle' (as in rustle-me-up this-or-that) sewing sails at home in his garage.
In the meantime, Zinister's crew are at work on a CANNON. Your finer points on potato gunnery will be appreciated, I'm sure, as well as safe yet powerful recipes for liquid combustage.
They need the CANNON because they now have an ALLIGATOR in their pond. However, inflatable Ali the Alligator landed in the pond upside down, so First Mate Rustle paddled out to upright her.
